Julie McLatchie

Julie designs and makes handcrafted jewellery from her studio in Dunbar. Her designs are inspired by nature and the outdoors.  Growing up by the beach in North Ayrshire on Scotland’s west coast, she always loved combing the sand for treasures and has kept exploring her surroundings ever since.  When traveling the country or further afield, she finds natural materials, sketches patterns and photographs moments that evoke the time and place to use in her work.  She discovered her love for jewellery design on a visit to the Glasgow School of Art to see an exhibition when she was 15.  She was offered a place there in 2003 and after four very busy years she graduated with a BA Hons degree in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design. She designs and constructs jewellery with the wearer in mind and quality is at the forefront of every piece.  All her precious stones are conflict free, sourced from ethical UK suppliers.  Any gold she uses is 100% recycled or Fairtrade Gold supporting small scale and artisanal miners. She is conscious of reducing the environmental impact within the jewellery industry and offer the use of Ecosilver in bespoke pieces.
