Charlotte Cadzow
Charlotte is based in East Lothian, where she makes ceramics intended to be used and enjoyed every day. Having grown up on a farm she has also travelled extensively to New Zealand and Japan where she worked in various potteries gaining vital skills and influences. Charlotte makes ceramics that are functional, decorative, and practical. All works are hand built and/or thrown on the wheel, working mostly with Stoneware clays, glazes, oxides, experimenting with textures and expressive brushwork. Raku and stoneware firings produce vibrant copper lustres and rich oxide glazes. The ceramics and painting mirror her love of the diverse themes of nature mixed with ancient mythology and the Sea. Her ceramics are twice fired, to a final temperature of 1220°C, making the finished ware suitable for dishwasher and oven use. |
